Remember when EVERYONE was a stay at home mom? I was in a small community of people like that when I was growing up and that’s just what I thought was normal, to tell you the truth, and I know that nowadays it’s anything but normal where I live. I chose to stay home with the twins when I had them because I think it’s good for babies to have their moms close by as they’re growing up but a lot of the other women in my neighborhood seemed to look down on me for not having a full time job. I spend a lot of time worried about whether or not they’re happy and house stuff, like if the furnace will work when it gets cold and about the Oncor Electric rates in our area, you know, the usual stuff. My husband likes that we’re a really traditional style family and I have to say that even though I spend a lot of time at home, I’m proud of it!

Democrat Smears on Limbaugh a Tactical MIstake

If there is one thing that democrats do well, it’s painting republicans as rich, racists, haters of the poor, haters of the environment, and baby seal and kitten (the cuddly ones) killers. In short, they are experts at smear tactics. Ken Starr, Wanita Broderick, Paula Jones, George Bush, Trent Lott, Don Imus, Kathlyn Willy, and Newt Gingrich, just to name a few. Now, democrats have targeted Rush Limbaugh. This will be their undoing.

The democratic strategy is to associate conservatism with Rush Limbaugh by calling him their leader and chastising his views as radical hate from the right. This is meant to draw attention away from claims of socialism and failing Obama policies, since Limbaugh is at the forefront of pointing these facts out. Already, we see weak republicans running from Rush Limbaugh. Due to the ignorance of the American public and the embarrassing bias from the mainstream media, this has been a successful tactic.

However, the democrats have erred in choosing Limbaugh as a target for their latest smear campaign. John McCain, for reasons I still don’t understand, was nominated for president on the republican ticket. McCain represented weak conservatism, with many believing him to be more liberal than conservative. The idea that the republican ticket needed to move left came from the media and democratic smears, calling republicans rich, racists, haters of the poor, haters of the environment, and baby seal and kitten (the cuddly ones) killers. The result was a definitive loss for republicans across the board.

The Republican Party will have to go through a major transformation back to conservative principles, championed by Ronald Reagan in the eighties. Rush Limbaugh has been a solid rock in maintaining these principles. Therefore, true conservatives are looking to him for leadership on moving conservatism back to the center of the Republican Party. Mark my words, no republican will win the presidency until he or she runs as a Reagan conservative. Those who flee from Rush Limbaugh (on the republican side) will lose their jobs as the conservative movement returns. Democrats, by drawing attention to Rush, are expediting this process. Especially since Obama’s policies will fail to do anything but drive the economy deeper into recession and move America further into an all out socialist state. Once the ignorant public who voted based on their feelings rather than intelligence see this, Rush’s voice will become all the more stronger.

Tax Hikes On The Rich WIll Cost You

Obama has proposed, as part of the second massive spending bill he has sent to congress, eliminating the Bush tax cuts, which essentially raises taxes on those making $250,000 or more a year. If allowed to pass, this will be devastating to an already beleaguered economy.

The most important thing that everyone needs to understand about all businesses is that they do not pay taxes. Taxes on business are paid for by consumers or the workforce. This comes in the form of lay-offs and price hikes on products and services. So if you are one of those people who hate the rich for having more money than you, and you feel good about the idea of making the mean rich people pay more, think again dummy.

I know a couple who owns a niche business restoring and providing parts for first generation automobiles, like Ford’s Model T. They are extremely worried about Obama’s plan to raise taxes. Although their business makes more than $250,000 a year, this money is used to pay their employees, business bills, etc. This was Joe the Plumbers problem by the way. Now, this wonderful couple already knows how they are going to deal with Obama’s coming tax hikes. They are going to have to lay-off one or two employees that have been working with them for over a decade. They simply have no choice. Now explain to me how this helps the economy? How does having two more unemployed workers bring us out of the current economic woes?

Let’s take one more example, this one hypothetical (soon to be reality). Let’s even focus on the much hated by the left, evil Walmart. Obama’s tax hikes raises taxes on Walmart and the evil rich CEOs. Now, a roll of toilet paper goes up, they lay-off employees, and freeze hiring. Good job Obama, you’ve done it again.

Americans, businesses, big and small, are what our economy is built on. When you tax the “rich,” those taxes get passed off to you, the little guy. A lot of you need to wise up and stop falling for the left’s class warfare tactics. Oppose this massive budget.

The ideas are simple and practical, requiring little sacrifice. Thanks to the work being done by companies such as Veolia, we can all look forward to a cleaner, better tomorrow.

Take A Healthy Step Back

Thinking about what to blog about this week proved more difficult than usual. I don’t think I have ever been hit with such insanity from the political world , all at one time. This past week, The country has had to deal with the disgraceful Roland Burris, record government spending, auto bailouts, banking bailout, and now a bailout for Americans who have been unable to meet their obligations. Now, on top of all this, Obama wants to cut the deficit in half by raising taxes on those making over $250,000 (that’s the number today). Or as Obama calls Middle America, “The Rich.” So, in these hard economic times, after passing a farce of a stimulus plan that provides no help for the companies that drive our economy, Obama proposes we raise taxes on these same people. Rather than explain the ignorance of the events and Obama’s policies in his short run in the Presidency, I have decided to take a healthy step back.

A couple weeks ago in church, the pastor ended a sermon on the elements of relationships with a clip from Glenn Beck’s show, where he discusses the story of Irena Sendler.

Before you mimic the collective gasp that was heard in an otherwise silent sanctuary, remember, Rush Limbaugh was also defeated. In fact, I imagine none of us ever heard of Irena Sendler, and that should speak to us all.

Roland Burris Insults Your Intelligence

In my January 6, 2009 post, I discussed how both Roland Burris and then Illinois governor Blagojevich had disgraced themselves, Illinois, and the country. I described how any man or woman who would be willing to accept an appointment to the U.S. Senate from a man such as Blagojevich to be lacking character and honor.

It really is not that difficult to gauge the character of a man. People are defined by their actions. If Roland Burris had any honor or integrity, than he would have waited for an opportunity to be appointed by Blagojevich’s successor, given his, at the time, obvious upcoming impeachment. Instead, he accepted an appointment by a disgraced and shameless governor, and in addition, played the race card.

Now, Burris, knowing that it would eventually become public knowledge, “amended” his testimony to the Illinois legislature, now claiming he had spoken to Blagojevich’s brother three times. Allegedly, Blagojevich’s brother, on behalf of his campaign, tried to solicit 10,000 to Blagojevich’s campaign fund.

Burris’ strategy is simple. He wanted to become a senator, but knew he lacked the credentials and would not even be on the short list. Heck, he wasn’t even Blagojevich’s first pick to sell Obama’s vacant senate seat. Willing to sell what ever dignity he possessed for the job, he allowed himself to be used in Blagojevich’s crusade to embarrass himself by shunning Illinois and accepting the appointment by Blagojevich. Knowing that public knowledge of Blagojevich’s attempts to sell the position to him would eventually become public, he lied in front of the Illinois legislature, planning to simply “amend” his testimony claiming every politician’s favorite defense of, “I didn’t recall at the time.”

Burris’ defense that he did not recall simply insults the intelligence of every thinking man and woman. However, I doubt there won’t even be an investigation, despite those inevitable cries from Republicans. Democrats, although promising to clean up corruption, have done nothing but bring more of it to Washington.

Now, I am very critical of accusing anyone of lying without actual evidence, even politicians. Liberals love to hate Bush, claiming he lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Of course, they can cite no actual evidence of any sort to back up this claim; they simply claim it. This is particularly disgusting given democrats received the same intelligence as Bush who supported his claim that Iraq had stock piles of weapons. But liberals and their wiling accomplishes in the press are not interested, and you know what, that’s alright. You see, I believe in karma, and the American people will learn another hard lesson about democratic policies.

This brings me to my point in this post, which is a recurring one. The founders’ feared creating a new government that had too much power. Remember, the first American Patriots risked and sacrificed everything to fight free of the tyranny of King George, III. The first constitution, the Articles of Confederation, failed because the nation’s government was too weak, having almost no power over the states to enforce any taxation or dictate national policy. Understanding that a stronger national government was needed, but knowing that they must not create another king, the founders’ agreed to our current United States Constitution. This Constitution clearly places true power with the people who fought to secure their rights and freedom from an interfering government. This is the foundation of republican principles today; that the people should be free to pursue their own happiness and that government’s role is to protect these natural rights, never to interfere, even with the best of intentions. To this end, I implore my fellow American citizens to start paying real attention to what is going on. People of Illinois, Burris should enter the chamber of the senate each knowing his days are numbered. He should know the voters of Illinois will not accept his actions and will not be duped in his quest for power. I want to go on record that we are just beginning to learn of the corruption of Roland Burris. This is going to be saddening to watch as more about this man’s actions become public. Demand better.

Stimulus to Create or Save Three Million Jobs

What the heck does Obama’s assertion that his spending bill (this is the stimulus bill to the ignorant) will create or save three million jobs mean? This is as insane as Bill Clinton arguing what the meaning of “is,” is. What a bunch of junk.

This claim can not be disproved. There is no way for anyone to ever claim that Obama’s plan failed to create or save three million jobs. If just one new job is created, then Obama can claim success. If working Americans continue to lose their jobs his plan will still be proclaimed a success. If nothing happens then his plan also succeeds. The following scenarios will help you understand what I mean.

Scenario 1: One new job is created; shoveling poop from circus horses. (I apologize to those of you who shovel horse poop at a circus, but don't you have to wonder what went wrong in your life?)
My fellow Americans, I told you that my administration would bring change you can believe in. I told you that my stimulus package would result in saving or creating jobs. I stand before you today to say we have succeeded. Because of my stimulus package, three million and one jobs were saved. (President Obama at any point in the future)

Scenario 2: The economy remains stagnate; no change.
My fellow Americans, I told you that my administration would bring change you can believe in. I told you that my stimulus package would result in saving jobs. Scenario 3: Three Million jobs are lost, America enters a deep depression.
My fellow Americans, I told you that my administration would bring change you can believe in. I told you that my stimulus package would result in saving jobs. I stand before you today to say we have succeeded. (You see, Obama can argue three million jobs were saved because without his stimulus, six million jobs would be lost instead of only three. (President Obama at any point in the future)

You see my friends; Obama’s claim to save or create three million jobs is absurd and cannot be proven a failure. Vice President Biden gives this plan a 30% chance of failure and today President Obama admitted his plan isn’t anywhere near perfect. Well for crying out loud, if you know going into something that it is not perfect, why not fix it first. Call me crazy, but what is wrong with creating a stimulus package that, at a minimum, you (as a President) believe is perfect. Can you imagine driving over a bridge that has a big sign saying, “It’s not perfect,” I doubt you would take that bridge; the consequences of failure would be disastrous.

We are being told to spend unprecedented amounts of tax payer dollars on mainly socialist programs. If we refuse, then Obama claims we risk delving into a depression we won’t be able to recover from (Oh no! I better vote for it or America will never recover). The playing on fears and the hardships many Americans are facing is shameful. Demand better.

Capitalism Shown At Its Best In This Economy

Capitalism: An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market (Dictionary.com).

Capitalism is the basis for the pursuit of happiness laid out in our founding documents. The idea that hard work will ultimately pay off drives America’s economy. Capitalism has allowed the United States to become, in a relatively short period of history, the most powerful, wealthy, and advanced civilization the world has ever seen. Because of capitalism, the United States has also become the greatest force for good around the world, second to none.

But this economy has given pause for many to ponder the value in our capitalistic system. President Obama and his democratic conspirators have seized upon this weak economy to promote a socialist agenda, having recently passed the massive spending bill in the House; this after promising to bring government deficit spending under control. The president cites greed in corporate America as the culprit and fiscal irresponsibility on the part of government (again, how is this latest stimulus package not fiscal irresponsibility?). President’s Obama takes every chance he gets to talk down this economy, setting the expectation that he will deliver on his campaign promises to a minimum and paving the way for more social government programs, all in the name of saving the economy and playing on your fear.

There is no question that the economy has put many American families in hard times, and that needs to be addressed. However, I want to preset the argument that the troubled economy of the past year proves that capitalism always works.

Not only does capitalism pay hard work and determination, favoring those who put in the hardest effort and take the greatest risks, but it also punishes greed. Those who invest widely in the market, like casino gambling, find themselves losing to the house. Corporate greed is a textbook example. Mortgage companies, willing to dole out sub prime mortgages as politicians do kisses for babies, have found themselves losers in the capitalistic system. You see, capitalism punished America’s greed. Government, corporate, and individual greed and irresponsibility were rampant across America, and so the downfall has been equally widespread. In a system other than capitalism, the greed and irresponsibility may continue to go unchecked. But because of our great capitalistic system, we can mend our ways and come out of this recession stronger. Even more, when we emerge from this recession stronger than ever, we will be so because we will have learned that greed and irresponsibility will not lead to the American dream.

Take heed Americans, we have allowed our government to run free in trying to stop this recession. We have allowed our fears to trump common sense. The government played a major role in creating this recession and can do nothing but make it worse. The government cannot support the massive amount of spending being passed right in front of our eyes in the name of economic stimulus. This is not capitalism; don’t let it teach us another hard lesson. Let companies go under and stop bailing them out. The economy is not going to collapse and plunge America into the abyss. Keep to the principles of capitalism and let’s work our way out of this mess.

Guantanamo Bay Detainee 220

No doubt you read about the killing of twelve in Mosul, Iraq this past April. Of course you did, the media loves to report any upheaval in the war on terrorism. But what wasn’t widely reported was that the murdering coward who blew himself up for the promise of sex was former Guantanamo Bay detainee 220, Abdallah Ali al-Ajmi.

Why was he released? He was released after a series of judgments stemming from the liberal attack on the detention of terrorists at Guantanamo Bay. The bottom line, he was released to the Kuwaiti government where he was, surprise, acquitted. He quickly returned to terrorism resulting in the death of twelve.

Americans, you need to get involved in what is going on in our country. President Obama has been in office only one week and already ordered the closing of Guantanamo Bay. Where do you think these terrorists will go? Do you want them in your backyard detention facility? Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t; yet she supports the closing. You want to give them access to the courts that requires proof of guilt? That would require the release of classified intelligence gathering that aids the enemy. The CIA and NSA are not going to give that information out. This means the terrorists goes free. Do you want these terrorists released to the Kuwaiti and other terrorist supporting governments? We know how that turns out.

The terrorists at Guantanamo Bay are not innocent civilians plucked off the dirt paths of Afghanistan and Iraq. They are liars, cowards, and murderers. Here is sample of the lies detainee 220 gave at his tribunal (source: Wikipedia)

Board Member: Ok, having said that I feel with that answer in mind than [sic] there is some sense of injustice on the part of your detention [sic]. Can that desire for peace and the anger you feel for the injustice coexist or live together?

Presiding Officer: Being detained here, does that affect your ideology of the peace concept that you just mentioned?

Al Ajmi: I don't blame the Americans for what they did by bringing us over here and detaining us over here. If I were in their place I would go out and look for terrorism all over the world like they did but I have a feeling it is going to be a just decision by the Americans. That is my feeling. I would do the same thing if I were in their shoes. I would capture the bad people, the terrorists and bring them over here and detain them.

I am concerned for America. President Obama has been in office one week. In this short time, he has endangered Americans by closing Guantanamo Bay with no plan for the terrorists detained there. He also picked, I’m sorry, but one ugly looking white carpet for the Oval Office (I get one cheap shot per blog).

The war on terrorism is alive and well; believe in that. Holding hands and roasting marshmallows over a campfire will not change that. I plead with you, as my fellow Americans, do not to allow our president to take this approach. Clinton tried the law-enforcement approach and the twin towers fell anyway. Bush saw terrorists for the fanatics they are and took action, his record in this area is indisputably flawless.; not one attack, but many foiled.

The Danger of Socialism

A socialistic government is one that seeks to level the playing field for all of its citizens through legislation. This type of government seeks to eliminate poverty and social classes. A socialist government seeks to create a literal utopia in the land it governs.

In order to accomplish this, a government must have the resources. This means money. This means taxes. If a government is to eliminate poverty, then it must either create better paying jobs for the unemployed and/or poor, or simply hand-out the life style they wish to promote. If a socialist government wishes to provide health care for its entire people, then they must provide the financial sources to do so for those who can not afford it. How do they do this? By taxing success. The more you make, the more your taxes skyrocket. This puts a virtual cap on wealth. So the message in France, the harder you work, the less you get. The less you work, the more you get. I’m sorry I don’t have a more poetic way of describing this, but that’s just stupid and France’s unemployment rate and stagnate economy proves it.

It would be hard to find anyone who would disagree (except for Islamic fascists who wish death to everyone but themselves) with the utopian goals of socialism; the elimination of poverty, high standard of living for all, health care for all, etc. However, as with most fantasy notions like eternal youth, world peace, and fairies, a utopian society only exist in make believe worlds like Never-Never Land. I like Never-Never Land, don’t you?

France, a bastion of socialism, by law, restricts an employee’s work week to 35 hours. Understand this is a federal mandate, not a negotiated deal with a union or a really super nice care bear of a company. The thinking is that it improves the quality of life for all of their citizens. Wrong! The result of this is a lack of productivity. Work that needs to get done doesn’t. Companies struggle to compete with the output of far more productive countries like the United States. Additionally, France is not the country you want to rely on to lead the world in new breakthroughs in science, medicine, technology, industry, etc. The mandated work week creates a malaise in the economy.

France, unbelievably, also has put in place rigorous guidelines on firing practices within private organizations. Notice the emphasis on private. For example, if you are a new employee under twenty-six, your job is essentially guaranteed by the government because your employer cannot fire you, even for gross incompetence. Again, this is to create a better life for a young generation trying oh so hard to get ahead. The result of this is obviously, incompetence in the workplace, but more, high unemployment rates, particularly among younger workers. Why would anyone want to hire an employee they can’t control because of government regulations? So, this Utopian idea of France’s is counterproductive to intent. Once more, when the government in 2006 tried to relax the asinine regulation of young employees, the kids went out and protested.

Recently, recognizing the stupidity of the firing regulations, France attempted to relax these regulations. The resulting protests by the children of France really illustrate the fundamental failure of socialism. Socialism produces citizens that feel they are owed something by their government without having to put into it. Here we have kids with no employment and have contributed nothing to their country, yet they believe they are owed a secure, well-paying job by their government, and their government agrees! You can just imagine these kids working their butts-off in the factory for their country in appreciation can’t you (sarcasm intended).

In addition to the two socialistic policies described, France also provides several weeks of government paid vacation as well as a year of paid maternity leave for each child. All of this, remember, comes from government revenues. The end result for France; Economic stagnation. This is not conjecture, but fact. France, somewhat recognizing the utter failure of their utopian society, recently voted Nicolas Sarkozy who ran on a platform of change in economic policies. France still rejects capitalism, the system that has brought the US to be the world leader in just about everything in the shortest period of time. America, the land of the free, where people from all over the world come for their medical care, jobs, and where millions of immigrants risk their lives to seek a better life.

Have no doubt America; the left in this country seeks to move this country to socialism. They are well funded and smart in their tactics. They seek to achieve one socialist policy at a time, often using the courts to enact what they can’t pass in the legislature; the Constitution be damned. Be on the lookout for policies that elevates the government as a solution to anything. Right now, President Obama seeks over one trillion dollars in government spending to solve our economic crisis. My friends, creating government jobs to solve an economic crisis is socialism. To pay for these jobs require taxpayer dollars, that’s your money people! President Obama ran on a platform of universal healthcare. This is socialism and already a proven failure in France. Obama’s tax cuts are anything but. A tax cut implies that a person pays taxes in which they could receive a cut and pay less. However, if you pay attention, you will notice these tax cuts go to people who do not pay any taxes to begin with. This makes Obama’s tax cuts welfare checks. Yes, socialism cheaply disguised to fool the uninformed and ignorant. It boggles the mind why anyone in this country would want to move away from a Constitution that has brought us unprecedented prosperity. The founding concept of the pursuit of happiness is unarguably capitalistic, not socialistic. Pay attention, be informed, and get involved. Keep this country alive and well. Too bad we can’t once again liberate France; this time from themselves.

Guantanamo Bay is being shut down. This can in no way help America, only hurt it. Thank you liberals. Al Qaeda proudly announced that their now number 2 man was released from Guantanamo Bay last year. Thank you liberals. The governments response. . . we really need to keep an eye on these people after they are released. The stupidity. We know exactly where this guy is; he is planning the death of Americans. How about not letting them go in the first place, dummy!
American taxpayers are now funding abortions. Oh, not for Americans yet, for international abortions. Obama reversed Bush's executive order today.
Terrorist can no longer be interrogated in any productive way. Thank you liberals.

Stephen Colbert Gets Emotional Over Obama's Inauguration

Every once in a while someone captures the emotions we all feel. Yesterday, I experienced a litany of feelings. But, I forgot those feelings trying to figure out what the heck that "poem" meant. It had something to do with firewood and and dear crossing signs, I think.

I want to remind all of you when Barack Obama gave us a glance into his thinking on how to handle terrorism. "What we know, is that, in previous terrorist attacks -- for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center -- we were able to arrest those responsible, put them on trial. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated” (Barack Obama, June 16, 2008). He applauded Clinton’s policy of handling terrorism as a law enforcement issue! He thinks this was a successful strategy. Incredibly scary stuff.

Obama’s statements here have considerable inaccuracies. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a major financier of the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing, was not apprehended and went on to be the major architect of 9/11. Great job Bill. There were also other members of the group who were never brought to justice. One went on to Iraq where Saddam Hussein’s regime shielded him. Take some time and do a little research here and get informed. The policy of treating terrorist acts as a law enforcement issue is a major failed policy of the Clinton administration and now Obama is going back to it.

I am appalled that Obama feels that Clinton handled the first World Trade Center bombing in anything other than a disastrous way. Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization. These people kill themselves under the illusion that God has promised them sex in the afterlife. Yes, these people believe God will reward them with sex from 72 virgins for killing innocent men, women, and children. The whole concept of a terrorist organization is that the death or capture of any one individual has minimal effect on the group’s operations. For goodness sake, can democrats learn nothing from 9/11. They failed in 1993, we arrested and sentenced most of the “perpetrators,” and we succeeded in…nothing. The trade centers go down on 9/11 along with over 2,000 American lives.

Clinton was an absolute disaster as the President of the United States responsible for the safety of its citizens. Congratulations America, Obama is going to arrest “perpetrators” and give them access to the courts. Of course, you don’t have a perpetrator until a crime has been committed. Take comfort in knowing that if you are your loved ones are killed in a terrorist act, Obama will not rest until the people responsible are sentenced to life in prison; that is if they don’t get off on a technicality.

Today, a pentagon report informs us that sixty-one of the terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay have reverted back to terrorists activities. Why were they released? Because of legal action taken by liberals. Good job liberals. Among the terrorists that Obama will have to decide what to do with is Mohammed al-Qahtani, the 20th hijacker. He was allegedly “tortured,” and so he can’t be tried in court. By “torture,” liberals mean this terrorist had to wear underwear on his head, have dogs bark at him, be seen naked by a woman, listen to loud music, and suffer sleep deprivation. My neighbor’s dog barks all day in the backyard, I am subject to annoying sub woofer bass sounds that feel like aftershocks from an earthquake from some punks 1997 Toyota Camry with a giant spoiler, my job constantly deprived me of sleep, and many today would like nothing more than to find a woman willing to see them naked. According to liberals, I am being tortured as well. Good job liberals.

Osama Bin Laden asks a question today in his latest death to the infidels recording that should give us all pause. He asks if the United States will remain capable of fighting him [terrorism] after Bush? Based on what Obama has said, I don’t think so.

Rod Blagojevich and Roland Burris- Disgraceful Behavior

Roland Burris, disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich’s pick to fill Barack Obama’s vacant senate seat is going to be hard to stop. Democrats have vowed not to seat him, but they have an uphill fight given the appointment is legal, albeit pathetic. Blago has the right as governor to fill Obama’s vacant seat and he exercised that right. Although Harry Reid denied Burris a seat today, he and his fellow democrats will eventually falter and allow him in.

It makes no difference that Roland Burris appears to have a clean record and there is no reason to believe he accepted anything from Blago for the appointment. The question that you need to be asking yourself is…what honorable man or woman would accept this appointment from a disgraced governor? You know the answer. Roland Burris, by accepting Blago’s nod has disgraced himself in the process. I’m sorry, but any man willing to accept the appointment from Blago is a desperate individual.

If any of these two men had an ounce of dignity or respect for their state and country remaining, here is how they would have behaved and still gotten their wishes. Blago holds a press conference and informs Illinois that although he disagrees with the charges against him, he recognizes the taint this would put on any senate appointment. He would then declare the creation of a commission comprised of democratic Illinois congressmen and women to put forth a recommendation for the vacant senate. Blago would then agree to appoint this recommendation. Thus, Blago can continue to fight in his defense, but respect the situation Illinois has been put in, justly or not. If Burris, then, was truly a wise choice and the best choice, then the commission would recommend him and he would fill the vacant seat with honor, not disgrace. But Blago is a selfish man and Burris knows this is his only route to power. So, Blago whines about his gubernatorial rights and he and Burris play the race card. By the way, how despicable is it for Burris and Blago to play the race card? I hope those with influence stand up against the ignorance of appointing a senator based on race alone, particularly when the nation will be run by a black president and the appointee is coming from Blago. This behavior, I believe, is what truly does damage to legitimate concerns of racial discrimination; it gets lost in the ridiculous political ones that run far and wide, and look which side of the isle it is coming from?

Despite all this, the true power remains with you, the voters. Not just the voters in Illinois, but the country. Democrats have decried Cheney, Bush, Delay, etc., of ethics violations or worse. Democrats cry for reform. Before Obama has even taken office, there are scandals involving Blago (selling a senate seat), Clinton (campaign donors), Rahm (knowledge of Blago), Richardson (just like Blago’s problems), and Obama (AACORN, Bill Ayers ) himself, among others. Keep in mind here that the press is not going report this information. Bill Richardson has withdrawn himself from consideration for Commerce Secretary. This is all the mainstream press reports. This is a huge story not being reported. Because of this sad bias, you, the people, must be responsible for staying informed. This means getting information from more than one liberal source. Watch the Fox News channel or visit their website. Listen to or read Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh among others. Then go read the mainstream press. Finally, use your brain to analyze and evaluate what you learn. If you’re honest with yourself, you will be shocked. I am not talking about changing your liberal fantasy-based ideas. I am talking about fairly evaluating the facts and truly understanding what is going on around you. Then vote intelligently and not down a party line. I am truly curious to see how liberals vote next go around when Burris comes up for election and Blago as well. How about Franken? Will liberals hold them accountable for their behavior, or excuse it?

I was reading Bill O’Reilly’s book A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, and in his book, he describes his childhood of the 1950s and 1960s. As I am reading, I focus on the simplicity of childhood back then and I focus on my own childhood. Like O’Reilly, I went out with the neighborhood kids and played until dark (well, actually past dark because of flash light tag). When I went outside, I roamed the neighborhood, from house to house for street hockey and tag. Never once was I concerned with my safety. Though my parents didn’t particularly care for the fact that I was roaming the neighborhood, I was a good kid and there were eyes all over the place, so they gave up that battle. However, the more that I think about the 1990s and childhood, I am saddened by the fact that my future children will not be able to experience those kinds of days. Gone are the days of roaming the neighborhood since parents are mainly focused on their own children. Gone are the days of being able to stay out to midnight and play with your friends, since now a creepy predator lurks behind every tree. Gone are the days where the neighborhood parents watched out for all the kids, not just their own.

Since the days of the past are gone, what kind of society are we living in today? We are living in a self-centered society where people are only worried about the good for themselves. The simple gestures of kindness are gone. Whatever happened to people holding the door open for other people with their hands full? Whatever happened to people chit-chatting about how their families are doing? Those times are gone. Instead, we are filled with the awareness that people are evil and will do harm to you when given the chance. Is this a bleak outlook on society? Definitely. However, the media has pummeled us with so much negativity that it is hard to see the positives in it. Look at the media’s focus. Whenever there is a republican president that they do not like (which is all of them), they focus on negatives. When Obama walked on to the picture, they make him look like a saint (remember Chris Mathews' tingle?). The liberal media picks and chooses the scope of their reporting. When was the last time that you heard something good on the news? For example, we always hear when stocks plummet, but how come we never hear when they go back up?

Today, on this 1st day of 2009, make a choice. Make a choice to shed more positive influences in this world. Hold a door open for someone who has a lot in his or her hands or look for positives in the news. But, be a positive change. Only you can do that- not the government.

Hamas is a Cowardly Terrorist Organization

I am not a not an expert on Palestinian or Israeli history. However, I am a reasonably intelligent person who can process information and learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of others.

Palestine is run by Hamas, an extremist terrorist organization. Why this vital piece of intelligence is not made clear in every broadcast concerning the fighting in the mainstream media concerns me. At least once a year, cowardly Hamas terrorists fire rockets (supplied by Iran) into Israel in an effort to kill as many civilians as possible. Why? Because they hate Israel and desire their complete destruction. Israel, the only democratic nation in the region, responds by inflicting massive retaliatory attacks on Hamas targets.

The mainstream media continually responds to this by, more or less, condemning Israel for fighting back. Somehow, Israel, the only democratic country in the region, defending itself against unprovoked attacks on its population is the one who need to stop the needless killing. Give me a break! Palestinian civilians die because they allow Hamas to run their land. These cowardly terrorists dress up in civilian clothes, then wage war. Israel does the best it can to minimize civilian causalities when they are forced to retaliate, but this is difficult when the enemy is not wearing uniforms or hanging out in a barracks. Therefore, you find where these cowards are massing, and send in the missiles. Civilians hanging around these people are going to be hit too. I regret that innocent lives must be lost, but that is the way it goes when you allow cowards like Hamas to make your land their habitat. Bill O’Reilly in his book, A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, expresses my feelings well when he says

If you have no money, no support system, no common sense, and no motivation to provide security for yourself and your family, you are going to get hammered. It’s not a matter of if-it’s a matter of when.”

O’Reilly was referring to Katrina victims, but I will extend it to apply to Palestinians who do not take action to end Hamas’ rule and then complain about the violence.

So, we go through this cycle again. Israel will catch hell from the world and the US mainstream media for fighting back. Hamas will seek a cease-fire to avoid more of their cowardly comrades being killed. Israel, wisely, will kill as many terrorists as possible before agreeing. Then, we will have six months to a year before cowardly Hamas terrorists lob missiles into Israel, repeating the cycle.

My message…wise up America and wise up Palestinians. Cowardly terrorists run Palestine. We did not put up with it and neither should Israel or Palestine. Support the annihilation of Hamas and support Israel. Once the world, particularly the US, seriously decides to end the terror of Hamas, then it will happen. Yes, this means a war in Palestine and making some people mad at you. Finally, for goodness sake, stop watching the mainstream media blame Israel. Exercise your free speech and power over the media and change the channel!

Merry….Um, Happy Christmas...Oh, um, Happy Holidays! Being a teacher, it is a given that we will be respectful of all students’ religion, views, and even atheism. Being a Christian teacher, however, I do not receive the same respect from the students. How many times did I want to say, “Merry Christmas,” but had to say, “Happy Holidays.” I’ve gotten pretty good at saying, “Happy Holidays,” but what is this holiday really about? It is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and his life. I’m not well-versed in what other religions believe, however, I do know that the calendar on my desk says, “Christmas Day.” Why is it that we are not able to wish other people “Merry Christmas,” whether or not they celebrate it? People have the options of:

Ignoring the comment
Saying, “Same to you.”
Politely saying, “I do not celebrate Christmas, but I hope you have a good one.”

Why has Christmas become so taboo? Retailers are afraid to use “Christmas.” School systems are trying to be mindful of every culture, except Christians, so Christmas is out. I even just read an article about a woman in Florida who worked for a real-estate company and was claiming to be fired for answering the phone, “Merry Christmas.” Now, this woman was probably not a great example, because in the article, she said, "As a Christian, I don't recognize any other holidays," which makes Christians look intolerant. However, doesn’t she have the right to say, “Merry Christmas?” Although this woman also had the responsibility of following her bosses’ orders, why did costumers complain about the greeting? It seems as if people are just looking for a fight.

It seems as if everyone has forgotten the meaning of the season and it has become the lawsuit season. Christ came to this earth to model tolerance and love. However, around this time, people are intolerant and cannot love those who celebrate the holiday. So, this I ask you, can you be tolerant of the people who are always tolerant of your holidays?

Franken Dangerously Close to Stealing Minnesota Election

If you have been paying attention, you know this, if not, you may be surprised to learn that Minnesota senatorial candidate Al Franken will soon overcome Norm Coleman’s lead from the November 4, 2008 election and become a real senator. Yes, Mr. Spaghetti Head does appear as if he will be successful in buying an election. Through millions raised form left-wing groups and Hollywood, Mr. Spaghetti Head will actually steal an election.

For those of you who continue to point to the 2000 election as a stolen election, a brief lesson in history. Yes I know, history is boring and not nearly as cool as you, but I proceed nonetheless. There was absolutely no recount scenario where Al Gore comes away with the Presidency. Not even when you count hanging chads or in a God like action, decide what voter intent should have been. In a study undertaken by major media organizations such at the New York Slimes (I mean Times), Washington Democrat (I mean Post), Wall Street Journal, etc., Bush wins under all scenarios laid out by the Florida Supreme Court after they changed legislated election law to fit their ideology and if the US Supreme Court has not ruled against Gore. Now, getting back to Minnesota and Mr. Spaghetti Head. I implore you to look at the type of decisions being made over ballots in this article on Fox News. But more over, use your common sense in the future. Despite that Franken will likely steal this election; he could not have done it without the voters. This man is as deviant as they come. I am ashamed of all those in Minnesota who voted for this man, legitimately. What is wrong with you people?

A wise man I know and respect once told me several years ago that the fall of the United Stated is inevitable. This is not an easy thought to truly internalize. But, he is of course, correct. There has never been a world power in the recorded history that has not toppled. Now, I am not saying I will live to see it, but I doubt it is that far off, relatively speaking. And I believe it will be caused by the liberalization of this country. The destruction of society lead by soon to be senators like Mr. Spaghetti Head and Bill Clinton slowly eat away at our moral base. To destroy morals is to destroy decency and common sense. Once common sense is gone, anything goes. Once anything goes…everything goes.

The ignorant and uniformed in this country are easily swayed by an overwhelmingly bias press and the need to fit-in. Consequently, every decade or so, the country switches party power in Washington. It seems like the last switch to Bush was less of a swing back to the right. Bush remained strong on many issues, but economically was as liberal as the best of them. John McCain remains more of a democrat than ever a republican. However, I keep the faith and hope alive for this country. The people have always come through and I believe after more lessons in the failure of democratic ideals, another true conservative leader will emerge and bring this country back to its former glory where one stood proud to be an American, took the moral high ground, and could care less what the world around them thought. Despite my dislike for Obama and what he will bring to this country, there is truth that Bush’s economic policies of wild spending failed (Obama will just do more of this by the way). McCain’s maverickism (I made this word up) failed. But conservatism works every time it is tried and it will be tried again.

Rick Warren Chosen to Lead Inaugural Invocation - The Intolerant Tolerant Police Protest

Tolerance is the ability to live in harmony with those whose religion, politics, race, nationality, etc. differ from your own. This does not mean that you have to accept these differences, just respect another’s right to them.

The liberal left in this country have anointed themselves the tolerance police (also the food police, smoking police, caring police, thought police, etc.). They are fond of passing judgment on all those who do not see eye to eye with their “progressive” agenda. The hypocrisy here is that it is the liberal left who are really the champions of intolerance. They have no respect for differences in opinion. If you believe that homosexuality is immoral, then you are labeled a homophobe. If you believe in the power of individuals to make and pursue their own happiness, then you are labeled as selfish, greedy, and uncaring. If you believe that the tradition of Christmas should not be ostracized from society, then you are labeled a religious zealot. My friends, this is intolerance by definition.

The level of hate being spewed by the liberal left at Obama’s choice to lead the invocation at his inauguration, Rick Warren, is an embarrassment to this country. Yes, Rick Warren is adamantly opposed to abortion, gay marriage, and other immoral acts that have been pushed upon society as “progressive.” But, as far as the liberal left is concerned, this disqualifies Warren from being able to call upon God to grant Barrack Obama the wisdom and guidance he will need to guide this country. Bloggers on the Huffington Post (a festering cauldron of ignorance and stupidity) comment on Warren, “…he [Rick Warren] has a psychology degree and knows how to manipulate people - but underneath he is a total megalomaniac. His church is close to being a cult” and “the hypocrite is wafting his prayer wherever with his filthy rags religion.” I wish I could say I had to hunt for these examples, but my friends, this is mainstream thinking and intolerance. All of you who hold these Christian values have been called megalomaniacs, manipulated, and followers of a filthy rag religion. Oh, and you are intolerant too.

Barrack Obama will benefit from choosing a true man of God to lead his inaugural invocation, assuming his heart was in the right place when choosing him. To select a minister who has adopted a “progressive” form of Christianity to lead the invocation would further this nation’s moral decline and bring us closer to truly reaping what we sow. Kudos to Obama for demonstrating what it means to be tolerant.

Lessons From Winston Churchill On The War On Terror

After all, my friends, only a few hours away by air there dwell a nation of nearly seventy millions of the most educated, industrious, scientific, disciplined people in the world, who are being taught from childhood to think of war as a glorious exercise and death in battle as the noblest fate for man.

This quote is from Winston Churchill in a speech he gave on November 16, 1934. In the face of insufferable pacifism led by Neville Chamberlain, Churchill stood his ground for what he knew to be right. Britain declared war on September 2, 1939, unprepared. Churchill stood his ground for five years, vastly unpopular.

Readers, although we do not fight the most educated, industrious, and scientific people, we do face the most dedicated, fanatic, and heartless people in the world. Prior to September 11, 2001, the United States practiced a policy of appeasement. After the first attack on the World Trade Center, then president Bill Clinton treated the incident as a law enforcement issue. This was a major failure to see the world as it was and is. The result, thousands of innocent lives lost.

Today I write in disappointment in my fellow Americans. I am disappointed to see so many fail to understand how the world works. The war in Afghanistan and Iraq is a war to rid the region of terrorists. Sure, I would love to hear of Osama’s demise, but Osama is no more than a symbol now. This war has no foreseeable end. There is no objective that can be met to declare victory. Victory is preventing terrorist attacks on our homeland. Victory is in knowing there is one less madman living in some godforsaken country planning the death of American civilians. Victory is in our continued freedom and safety from those who would strip it away in hate and intolerance.

I agree with Rush Limbaugh that around four to six percent of this country carry the rest of the country on their backs. Where am I going with this? My point is that doing the right thing, as your mommy and daddy have told you, is always the hardest path to take, and few do. Sending American soldiers to potentially die in Iraq and Afghanistan is hard, but it is the right thing to do. I am embarrassed at how so many Americans turned their support away from the war when it was convenient to do so. Sure, you have your reasons. I’ve heard about weapons of mass destruction, terrorist links, oil conspiracies, etc, etc. You don’t get it. Neville Chamberlin didn’t get it. Churchill stood virtually alone, and Britain paid the price.

I pray that our soon to be president Barrack Obama is wise enough to understand this reality. But, I fear he will withdrawal our forces as soon as possible and not pursue terrorists wherever they may be. Failure to understand the severity of the hate for the United Stated in the Middle East under Bill Clinton led to the disastrous event of September 11, 2001. It led to a nuclear North Korea and soon, Iran.

I appeal to all Americans to search your souls and detach yourself from the need to fit in. Taking the easy road, the road of appeasement is a historical failure, time and time again. I leave you with this final excerpt from Churchill’s speech, which to me, is our warning of impending disaster without action.

Tim McGraw once sang, "Some things never change." As you listen to the song, it is easy to be caught up in the lyrics and you might even start to believe that some things never change. However, what really stays the same? In pondering this question, it was difficult to create a list. If you start with family, you could argue that your family’s love for you never changes. Although one may believe that, that is not true. There are people who move in and out of families all of the time, through marriage, divorce, or death. Your Aunt-in-law Celia may love you like her child today, but after the divorce from Uncle Roger, she may no longer love you like her child.

What else never changes? Humans and life are fickle, so most things change on a regular basis. However, here are the two truths I found to be constant:

Whenever the patriarch or matriarch in a family is sick, loved ones flock to their side, comfort them, and bring them hope. Even when people are distant in a family, they still come together to show their love and support for the ailing member.
God’s love. In John 3:16, the bible reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Think back to anyone you know who has a child. Would that person give up their child so that you may live? Chances are, the answer is probably, "No." On the other hand, God gave up his Son for you, for me, and for everyone so that we may have eternal life. When bad things happen in the world, and people blame God, it is an unjust accusation. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that life will be perfect, however, it does say God will be with us.

Government created our economic crisis. Why on Earth are we looking to government to solve it? Obama’s latest plan to rebuild the infrastructure boggles my mind. How do giving millions of Americans construction jobs solve our problems? What happens in a year when the roads are built? Either the government invents new jobs for them, or those workers lose their jobs again. How does upgrading schools with fresh paint equate to better educated students? How does providing Internet in hospitals do anything to spur the economy? Besides, do the illegal immigrants even know how to access the Internet? And for the love of all things sacred, how do putting energy efficient light bulbs in government buildings accomplish anything other than to create a mercury hazard? Mr. President Elect, this is throwing money at the problem, no matter how eloquently you try to paint it.

Let the people of this great nation solve the crisis. Let hard working and innovative Americans create solutions. Lower taxes and get out of the way Washington. You made this mess and by trying to fix it, you will not do anything more than poor lemon juice into an open wound.

Barrack Obama and Nancy Pelosi Want a Big Three Bailout

Barrack Obama and the democratically controlled congress are posturing. They have, and have always had, every intention of passing out your money to the Big Three automaker’s CEOs in just the latest bailout. Think about this. Democrats are in control of Congress, soon to strengthen that control and add the White House. Liberal philosophy is based on big government spending. If you think that the Big Three automakers are not going to get their bailout, then you’re fooling yourself. If the message from Washington was “No!” then the CEO’s would not have come back. But that’s not what is happening. They are coming back again and again. The American public is not going to change their mind and suddenly feel the urge to bail them out, but congress doesn’t need any mind changing because they want this to happen. Democrats are playing games with the public, pretending to be guardians of taxpayer money against frivolous government spending. The reality is that they are foaming at the mouth to do it. If Nancy Pelosi was really concerned about CEOs traveling in private jets, then why don’t you get rid of your first, Madam Speaker? I am telling you now; the Automakers will get their bailout.

Mad at Obama for not getting involved? The Office of the President Elect is not concerned with showing deference to the man still holding the reigns to make this decision, as he is implying. He knows that once congress passes this bailout, Bush must either support or reject it. Either way, Obama wins. If Bush rejects a bailout for automakers, he will be drawn and quartered in the main stream media who will tout that Bush caused this mess and then is doing nothing to fix it. Obama then gets to come in and show his “change.” If Bush signs the bill, the billions of dollars becomes a burden on his deficit tally and not Obama’s. If it fails, and it will, Bush gets blamed because he agreed to the deal and Obama gets to keep talking about the failed policies of the last eight years. Obama gets what he wants in the bailout, and he keeps billions of dollars of strain off his next budget and credits it to Bush’s out of control spending. If it succeeds, and it won’t, Obama takes the credit since he will be sitting in the big chair.

Here me now. There will be a bailout for automakers. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will get on TV and talk about how they forced CEOs to sacrifice their big paychecks and make concessions. In the end, the American public will provide billions of dollars to CEOs in a plan that will only temporarily sustain them. Then, we will give them more, or they go into bankruptcy anyway. Of course democrats will argue that since they already have invested in them, letting them fail would be a waste of that money; so we should waste more.

Want a better solution? How about Louie Gohmert’s, a congressman from Texas, idea for a federal income and social security tax holiday for January and February 2009. This stimulates the people, not CEOs, by providing them with potential thousands in tax savings to spend in this faltering economy? Don’t give me that line about only the rich will benefit. Are not CEOs the hated wealthiest Americans? Yes, I know an idea from someone named Louie must be questioned, but let’s at least look at alternatives that does not involve giving tax payer money away to sustain failed business models.

The Problems With No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

For most Americans looking in from the outside at public education, there is a lot of disgust. The knee jerk reaction has been to criticize public school standards, or teachers themselves. In 2002, largely in response to this, President George W. Bush signed into law, in collaboration with Senator Ted Kennedy, the No Child Left Behind Act. The major stated goal of this program is that 100% of students across the nation will be proficient in reading and math by 2014. Each year, Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) are set by each state in math and reading by grade-level. A School’s Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) is met when all subgroups and all grade levels meet their AMOs. In Maryland, the AMO for reading in fifth grade was 71.8% and 69.1% in math. AMOs incrementally increases annually until every student is required to score proficient or advanced in math and reading in 2014. States are forced to disaggregate data into nine subgroups for evaluation. Each subgroup in each grade level must meet the AMOs or the entire school fails to meet AYP. For beginners, there are five major problems with NCLB.

First, the idea that 100% of a school’s population will pass reading and math standards is like mandating world peace by 2014. We all know that there are many elements that play into the success of a child. Students spend approximately 90% of their lives outside of school in their K-12 years. 10% cannot compete with the influences of 90%. That is why family and community are so important. NCLB is fundamentally flawed because of this. What happens in 2014 when not one public school in the nation meets the standard?

Next, a school’s progress is not measured as a whole student body, but broken into subgroups. Each subgroup must meet their AMOs. English Language Learners (ELL), Special Education, etc., all must meet AMO in order for the school to meet AYP. Here is the problem. Let’s say you are in a school with three ELL students in the fourth grade. If one fails to pass, then AYP is not met because that subgroup is only at 67% passing. One student throws the entire school into chaos. Now apply this logic to special education students. Here we have students who have documented disabilities. They must pass as a subgroup as well in each grade level.

Third, states are free to develop their own assessments. Yes, In Maryland, we use the Maryland State Assessment (MSA). Florida and Virginia develop their own tests. Therefore, there is absolutely no way to compare the educational programs of one state with another. This is basic data manipulation. One state claims success, but the reality is they are assessing on different levels. Their students could actually be doing worse if a valid comparison is used.

Fourth, getting back to subgroups, each state gets to decide how many members of a particular subgroup are necessary to count the results. This is called the N-Value. In Maryland, this mystical number is five. In Maryland public schools, if any subgroup has more five or more students, then that subgroup is counted. So, let’s say one school has four ESL students and all four fail to pass. Well, it doesn’t matter, the subgroup is too small to count and those students are left behind. Here’s the problem, states get to decide what their N-Value will be. Maryland has the lowest N-Value, which means they are counting just about all of their students. The next highest N-Value is 15, and Virginia’s is 70! Basically, Virginia is not counting their students who would reflect poorly on their public school system. There is again no validity and how states meet NCLB requirements.

Finally, NCLB is not fully funded. Basically, the federal government is telling all public school systems what standards they have to meet, but providing no support in achieving it. They can talk the talk, but not walk the walk.

Now, if you are thinking…thanks Mr. President, you failed again; then you need to know that NCLB is nothing more than an extension and modification of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act originally adopted in 1965. NCLB is not new; it just has a new name. And guess what? Barrack Obama is likely to reauthorize it again with a new name and a few more modifications. In fact, he might not even change the name. After all, this is the brainchild of Senator Ted Kennedy as much as George W. Bush.

That aside, I don’t believe the law should be scrapped. There are a lot of legitimate problems with NCLB, as I have just outlined. But there is also a lot of unsupported criticism floating around. Despite its problems, schools have greatly improved across the country. The sense of accountability does exist in the nation’s public school systems where it did not before. President Barrack Obama needs to gather experts in the field of education to work out the kinks. However, it’s never going to be perfect because there is no perfect solution. There will always be students, for a variety of reasons, which will not meet math and reading standards. Simply increasing the rigor of graduation requirements does not solve that problem, even though it feels good to demand. Some kids just don’t have what it takes. But I tell you what; there is nothing more valuable to Americans than a trustworthy auto mechanic, contractor, landscaper, etc. But, it is political suicide for anyone in any type of position of power to say so. So instead, we have mandated that no child will be left behind by 2014.

One of the cool things about my grandfather is that he kept a lot of junk from…a long time ago. At first glance, I found myself asking…what the heck is coin roll hunting? The website would benefit from prominently displaying this piece of information, given that most users do not stick around too long to find out that it has the answer on the homepage. Problem is, the homepage is a little busy, and important information doesn’t stand out. Their tag line of “Building Collections out of Spare Change,” would serve them well as a top banner. However, once I took some extra time to figure out what the site was all about, I have to say, there is a lot of good information if you are into, or want to start, a coin roll hobby. There is information for beginners to advanced, as well as forums, links, and collecting tips.

The site has been working on a redesign, so I expect good design improvements. Mainly, the site needs to add color. Currently, the idea of Coin Roll Hunting sounds boring and the website doesn’t do anything to dispel that thinking.

Nonetheless, information is easily navigable on the sidebar, organized by categories. But what the average user still wants to know is how much their pennies are worth? I have had a hard time easily finding that information. However, I did find some estimated values given if you sold on EBay. I think the real potential for Coin Roll Hunting enthusiasts, or soon to be enthusiasts, are the forums and links. As more and more Coin Roll Hunters discover this resource and how great of a cheap hobby coin roll hunting is, the more and more information on the hobby will be shared.

Coin Roll Hunting is more about the joy of coin collection by searching through coin rolls, not about how to get rich. If you are looking for a cheap hobby, Coin Roll Hunting is a good choice. But, I don’t think I would actually sell my coin collection. I have always enjoyed knowing I have it. Keep those coin rolls coming!

Plaxico Burress and Gun Control - Part 2

So, as promised, the media’s use of Plaxico Burress to promote gun control. Or I should say the elimination of the Second Amendment. Because I am tired and don’t feel like listing every site I found, I selected the biggest one to prove my point. It is titled, Burress should've packed his brain, not a gun, by Mike Celtic (MSNBC). A quote:

“No matter how often guns get innocent people either dead or in more trouble than anyone ever wants to be in, people can always point to an incident where they can convince themselves having a gun would save a victim’s life.”

Celtic then goes on to argue that if Sean Taylor had a gun, he would still be dead. I say, maybe, maybe not! The maybe not wins the day.

I want to be the first to predict that the latest debacle by an NFL player, Plaxico Burress, will be used by the Left to advocate gun control. Somehow, an idiot who shoves a gun into his pants, yes, in his pants, will be used to argue why gun control must be legislated immediately. I challenge you to pursue the blogs and mainstream media sources and read the articles that are sure to be bountiful. Read carefully, they will not come out and say it; it will be hidden under the details of the incident. Leave a comment with the proof you find. I will update tonight with what I find.

I hate trying to find tickets to sold-out events or at the last minute. I find myself carrying out Internet searches and looking up vendors in the phone book. Then, I never know if I can trust the person or if I am getting totally ripped off. Often, I come out empty-handed, which always sucks.

I recently discovered Ticket Solutions, a UK based website for hard to get and sold-out tickets to concerts, football (the soccer type), arts, and theatre. The downside is they only sell tickets to UK events. But, in the name of helping my fellow British friends, I present this review.
My first impression of Ticket Solutions is that I can trust the company. Their site loads quickly and is appealing. It doesn’t have the feel of some scalper running a website out of his mom’s basement. Ticket Solutions offers a number of good features, beginning by presenting a quick list of major events by categories on their homepage. They also provide a quick search feature to help you find your tickets more efficiently. Another great feature is the “Last Minute Offers.” This section, displayed on the homepage, provides tickets for events at the last minute, which is good for those times I bore myself into action. A brief description of each event is also included, which really adds flavor to the site and the excitement of the event. For sporting events, a description of rivalries and each team’s history are often included.

If you are finding that hottest events in the UK are sold out, Ticket Solutions could be your saving grace. Although there is no guarantee they will have tickets for you, it’s another avenue to try. They clearly show the quantity of tickets they have available for each event and the price for each. You are going to have to pay more than face-value, but that is expected for sold-out events.

Ticket Solutions would benefit from updating their copyright to 2008, as well as eliminating events that have expired. I was able to find tickets to events several days after they had taken place. It is not a big deal, but would go a long way in building their site status. Ticket Solutions is in the process of creating their FAQ page, a frequently visited link for regular users. However, a phone number and email address is provided and easily locatable on every page, allowing me to contact them directly and check them out. Sometimes I just need a human with pricier transactions. Ticket Solutions accepts all major credit cards and is a member of the Association of Secondary Ticket Agents (ASTA), which although I don’t know anything about it, makes me feel better.

So, if you are finding tickets to the big event in the UK elusive and you don’t mind paying a bit extra, give Ticket Solutions a try and let me know about your experience. The majority of the American public recognizes the situation Israel is in. A small, democratic country surrounded by those that wish its destruction. Israel is at constant war, and in hindsight, is not without blemish. So how does the world eradicate terrorism? By talking them to death? The war in Iraq and Afghanistan, in my humble opinion, proves Americans and the people of the world do not have the resolve for such an endeavor. This is my main point of respect for Bush, like it or not. Despite the waxing and waning support for a war, he recognizes what must be done and has taken the hits. Will Obama do the same? As terrorists continue to hit one country at a time, will the world learn terrorism is a common enemy, not just the Great Satin's and their allies?

Barrack Obama Cabinet Selections - The Press Goes Gaga

Perusing the web, I can across a Newsweek article posted on MSNBC going gaga over Obama's selections of Hilary Clinton as Secretary of State, Janet Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security Secretary, and Susan Rice as US Ambassador to the United Nations.

Why is it that Obama gets a nice puff piece for his cabinet selections? George Bush selects Colin Powell as Secretary of State and Condoleezza Rice as National Security Advisor and Secretary of State. But no, it's Obama who credited with blowing through "racial barriers." Give me a break. Are readers of Newsweek and MSNBC that tuned out? Hate or love Bush (probably hate), crediting Obama, a black man, with blowing through racial barriers in cabinet appointees is humorous, and not newsworthy. Obama himself has blown through a barrier thanks to the American people. I am not an Obama fan, but I can give him credit for what is simple history, and I recognize and applaud its significance. Give Bush the same credit for his achievements in this area.

It is officially time for the War on Christmas to begin. Schools will be forbidden to display anything in their buildings that highlight Christmas, Christmas Break has been renamed Winter Break, Santa Clause if off limits, and numerous guest speakers and displays of Ramadan, Kwanza, etc., will be presented to ensure students learn tolerance. Nativity displays from public parks, state buildings, etc will be removed and holiday phrases such as “Merry Christmas,” “God Bless You All,” “The Savoir is Born,” etc. will be removed and replaced my the more tolerant, “Happy Holidays,” and “Winter Blessings.”

In 2006, a passing Rabbi in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport decided that a display of Christmas trees was not tolerant of his religion. He therefore insisted an electric menorah also be added. He filed suit. The airport removed the trees. Christmas was over at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

In retaliation, a Colorado-Springs Christian political action group is producing a campaign to boycott retailers who use secular phrases such as “Happy Holidays.” Although I can’t disagree with the strategy, I don’t fully support it either. I am a big believer that business does what is best for business. In other words, if Old Navy chooses to use the phrase “Happy Holidays,” or “Merry Christmas,” then their bean counters are telling them so because of YOU! In short, markets respond to the demands of the people.

Putting the end to the War on Christmas, or at least taking the high ground, involves the people, and it begins and ends in our legislature and courts. Liberals are all for “tolerance.” However, this means that everything is OK so long as it isn’t Christian or has anything to with Christmas. When law suits are filed by various religious sects and liberal organizations such as moveon.org, and the ACLU, displays of Christmas are quickly removed. Why? Because the cost of going to court simply isn’t worth it. In addition, they will probably lose!

Want your Christmas back? Look around the neighborhood. I can’t help but notice the number of displays decrease every year. Heck, buy a snowman for $10 at WalMart in the “Holiday Section,” and put him on your porch; do something! Say “Merry Christmas” to your co-workers instead of secular phrases. It’s OK; you’re allowed (1st Amendment). Do try to shop at stores that openly celebrate the “Christmas” season. This can help change marketing. But above of all, think about the people you are voting into office. Not that the secularization of Christmas should be the number one priority, but it will fit nicely into an overall evaluation of their character. For starters, stop voting in liberals!

Why Obama’s link to Bill Ayers Did, and Still Matters

Are you aware of the National Sex Offender Registry? Ever taken a peek? Why? Did it bother you to find a sex offender, or even more than one sex offender living virtually next door? Does it bother you that the next President of The United States enjoys friendship with an unrepentant terrorist?

Bill Ayers was and is a terrorist. He has openly admitted in his book Fugitive Days to bombing New York City police headquarters in 1970 and the Capitol building in 1971 as a member of the radical group, Weathermen. Incredibly disturbing, he told New York Times reporter Dinitia Smith that, “I don’t regret setting the bombs." Come on, this is all in the past. He is a washed up terrorist. Ok, does it make you sick to the stomach to learn that this article was published in 2001? How about if I told you September 11, 2001? Yes, this article was published in the New York Times on September 11, 2001.

It boggles my mind that anyone in this country who considers themselves reasonably intelligent could have possibly voted for Barrack Obama. Did you not know? If not, why? Put politics aside. Obama has a chummy relationship with this coward. Ayers helped launch Obama’s Illinois Senatorial campaign in the mid-90s and served with him on the board of the Woods fund through 2002 (Ayers still serves, having begun in 1999). If you are honest with yourself, then you know very well that your friends represent, although to a limit, your own beliefs and value system. I would never be associated with a person such as Bill Ayers. And you know equally well that anyone with such a relationship says a lot about them.

Let me leave you with this thought to fester. In the same 2001 New York Times Interview with Ayers, he was asked if he would do it again? His response…

“I don’t want to discount the possibility."

What Barack Obama Can Learn from Jefferson and the Barbary Pirates

Yesterday, a caller to Rush Limbaugh briefly discussed with him the history of the United States and the pirates off the Barbary Coast. Rush correctly identified these pirates as the first Muslim terrorists in American history. In brief, Barbary Pirates would seize merchant ships from all nations, requiring yearly tributes from their governments to gain immunity from such attacks. Even the most powerful naval force in the world, Britain, found it cheaper to pay the tributes than wage war. Once America gained its independence, the United States was no longer protected under Britain tributes. George Washington and John Adams, already struggling to keep a weak government alive, gave into the demands of tribute. Thinking began to change in Thomas Jefferson’s administration. However, I disagree with Rush’s account of Jefferson’s tact with the Barbary pirates.

Jefferson was weak, at best, in his resolve to eliminate tribute payments. Jefferson was a republican who believed in a weak central government. As such he resisted efforts to construct a military, including the build-up of a navy. Consequently, he had little to work with in sending a naval force to deal with the problem.

Real credit for creating a beginning to the end of the Barbary pirates belongs to William Eaton. Eaton, with his bombastic personality and stubborn will, led a mixed army of 500 marines, Greek, Arabs, and mercenaries in a successful attack against the Tripoli city of Derna. This is what set the stage for the incompetent Tobias Lear, Jefferson’s consul general, to negotiate a treaty with the Bashaw of Tripoli. Lear, not grasping the advantage Eaton had gained in his victory in Derna, enabling a possible assault on the Bashaw himself in Tripoli, negotiated a treaty with the Bashaw of Tripoli. Lear’s treaty included a ransom of $60,000 for American naval prisoners held by the Bashaw after the disgraceful capture of the naval frigate Philadelphia, due in large part to the incompetence of Captain William Bambridge. The Philadelphia was successfully destroyed in Tripoli Harbor in an attack led by the courageous Lieutenant Stephen Decatur. This is the origin of the Marine Hymn verse, “…to the shores of Tripoli.”

Despite Jefferson’s weak resolve to truly end the problem, he must be credited as the first President to take positive action towards a resolution. These events also serve as historical proof of the need to take serious and direct action against threats to the United States. Thanks to President George W. Bush for recognizing the extent of the terrorist threat and facing it head on. Since, we have not had a terrorist attack on United States soil. I hope President-Elect Barrack Obama recognizes that threats to the United States exist and must be dealt with directly. Friends can not be made with those who wish the destruction of America. Please Mr. Obama, learn from history rather than repeat it.

Obama and the Economic Crisis

It is time to dispel the myth that Barack Obama is inheriting an economic crisis. Inheriting implies that one receives something that was previously not theirs from another. Barrack Obama is as much to blame for the economic crisis and two wars as Bush. Bush did not decide to create an economic crisis, democrats did. Beginning in the Clinton years, democrats asserted their influence on creditors to hand out ill-advised sub-prime loans. This should not be surprising; democrats are all about giving the poor hand-outs they have not earned with no care for the aftereffects to those they are taking away from (you and me). Rush Limbaugh lays this out eloquently, as always, in the video below.

But….this is not my main point. I am going nuts over the media premise that Obama is inheriting this potential recession. No he is not. He is a democrat who supported the institution of the same policies that led to this crisis. Bush and the Republicans attempted to reform sub-prime mortgages, foreseeing the danger. Democrats blocked every attempt with fervor.
The media is fond of giving Bill Clinton the credit for a boom in the economy during the 90s, giving no credit to the source, Ronald Reagan. Now they are propping Obama up to be the savior of the economy. In the media, he will not fail.

Allow me to educate you on the history of the ignorance of the American public in understanding cause and effect. For those of you who are already confused, cause is why something happens; effect is the result(s). John Adams, as the nation’s second President, resisted vehemently the call to war against France, as the French all but declared war by acting as pirates on the high seas. After the XYZ affair, the media had the United States in an uproar. Adams, understanding that the United States would not be able to survive a war, resisted popular opinion. Again, there was a major push in the media, driving public opinion. The people, as many are today, were far too ignorant to see their own manipulation. Who was behind this media push? Thomas Jefferson. Yes, Thomas Jefferson was the first American politician to recognize and use the power of the media to promote an agenda. He was successful; John Adams lost the 1800 election to him by a significant margin. However, Adams’ last envoy to France in 1799, which was abhorred by the media and Thomas Jefferson, resulted in peace between the two countries, saving the newborn United States from disaster. However, news of this success came after the ballots were cast. Many historians believe news of this success would have won Adams his second term.

And now, we arrive at the main connection and point. Thomas Jefferson ‘inherited” a peaceful United States. Consequently, America thrived and Jefferson received the credit. Even today, Jefferson receives much attention as one of the greatest of the founding fathers and Presidents, but few know he owes much of this to Adams.

Now, Obama is looking to withdrawal his original rants about letting the Bush tax cuts for Americans expire in 2009, opting to try again in 2012. Why, because the tax cuts are good for America. Does Bush get credit? No! The media continues to call it tax cuts for the rich and praise Obama and his dream team for fixing the economy before he is even the official president-elect. I implore all American to study history and learn what principles truly make this country great. Be on your guard for the ones that could very well destroy this great country, as a war with France in 1800 surly would have brought about.

Which Came First...The Placard or the Tie?

I don’t particularly care for, or about, the placard. Sure, it’s slightly pretentious and adds fuel to an unnecessary fire. But come on, somebody took a lot of time to get that tie to match the color filling, “THE OFFICE of the.” Think of all the time and effort that went into making the design of this public appearance. The only tie I have that comes close to that color is a fish tie. Forget about the chicken and the egg. I want to know which came first…the placard or the tie?

Why Raising Taxes Has Never Worked and Never Will

Democrats love to use the inherent jealousy of the rich to justify raising taxes and increasing government programs, and by extension, power. For reasons that escape me, a large section of America just doesn’t understand why this is always a disaster.

Sean Hannity is fond of asking the question, “Have you ever been given a job from a poor person?” Of course not! The rich drive this economy. They provide millions of blue and white-collar jobs. They are rich because they provide products and services that the public is willing to pay for. I love my car, cell phone, Internet, TV, computer, etc, etc. Take their money away and you take not only the potential of a new job away, but most likely an existing one.

Now think about it, when you have an unexpected expense, be it higher taxes or otherwise, what do you do? Do you spend as usual? Probably not. You cut back somewhere else. For me, maybe I skip my daily Slurpee from 7-11. Maybe I work some extra hours. Maybe I cancel my beloved Blockbuster Online account. The point is something has to give. The rich play by the same rules as we do. When the government raises the taxes on the rich ‘evil’ CEOs, they simply pass these increases on to you, the consumer, or to you, the employee. They don’t take one cent in profit reduction. When Obama gets around to raising taxes on the ‘wealthiest’ Americans in order to “Spread the wealth around,” understand that all this results in is the poor getting poorer. Prices for products go up and people lose their jobs.

Case and point; look at the Big Three automakers currently begging for a government bailout. Government and the United Auto Workers (UAW) fought for higher wages and work condition regulations. The result has been that American automakers cannot compete with foreign manufactures that do not operate under the same restrictions. Why? Because the Big Three CEOs passed those cost intensive UAW and government regulations costs right to the sticker price of every vehicle.

Obama Skips Church...Again

Why should Americans care that Barack Obama has not attended church since he was elected? It is because it serves as one of the many red flags that Obama is not who he claims to be. He attends the Chicago based church of Reverend Wright for twenty years, swears he can never disavow the man, then turns around and does it anyway when the political fallout increased. To be fair, Obama was not a regular at church on the campaign trail either, except in South Carolina and other states that puts God front and center (Politico). I don’t particularly care whether Obama sits in church every Sunday, opting for a nice sweat; I already know his thoughts on God. What I care about is that all those so-called moderates and independents out there are watching close. He made a lot of promises and guaranteed change. Let me be among the first to predict that when he fails, he will blame it on the, “Failed policies of the last eight years.”

Learning Through Music

Who doesn’t use the Alphabet song to remember their letters? Music is such a great way to create long-term retention of important concepts and information. It is not that learning through music is the best way humans learn, it is just that it is so different from traditional methods that the brain builds extra connections to the experience. A lot of my success in teaching struggling learners has come from my use of music for key concepts. Be careful, if you use too much music in a short period of time, your students won’t retain. Pick key concepts you want to teach and give them repeated exposure. Don’t forget to instruct on what they are singing.
Here are two helpful ideas and links:

Rhonda Schilling, from the Madison Metropolitan School District has created, through a grant, the Hip Hop Math Project. No matter what grade-level you are teaching, there is rap music for you. What is great is that she hired a professional rap artist to create recordings. In addition, the background music was created from a generic Hip Hop CD that can be purchased rather cheaply from Amazon. I have had a lot of success using the Mean, Median, and Mode track.
Joe Crone has created a good amount of fun songs that hit on key concepts in a variety of subjects. He provides full lesson plans, vocal tracks, and background music. I enjoy using Geometry Park and the Capitalization Song with my students to great success. If you like him, your school and book him to do cultural arts programs.
Ron Clark, winner of numerous teaching awards including the Disney Teacher of the Year, uses rap and music to help his struggling learners. He offers his original music through his site.

For those of you, who are not musically inclined, don’t worry. The kids don’t care how horrific you are. Anyway, just make them do all the work.

Teacher Conferences – What Parents Need to Know – A Useful Opinion

As a teacher, I can soundly say that the parent-teacher conference can be one of the most valuable experiences, or the most useless. What makes or breaks the teacher conference is the attitude of the parent(s) coming in. Now, for argument sake, forget about the “bad” teachers and let’s talk mainstream. Your child’s teacher wants him or her to succeed. Despite all the discussion in the education world about strategies to motivate, engage, and better manage a classroom, the number one factor effecting your child’s education is your positive involvement. The following list will help you prepare for your parent-teacher conference in a way that will yield the best results for your child:

Be on time: Oh my goodness, there is nothing that annoys a teacher more than a parent who shows up late. This is mainly due to the fact the teacher has up to thirty conferences and your lateness will set them behind for all the remaining conferences. This then aggravates parents who are on-time. It’s a big downward spiral.
Be prepared to hear that your child is not an angel: Because he or she is NOT. Your son or daughter is a child; they behave like it all the time.
Do not blame the teacher: Your child’s behavior problems are not the teacher’s fault. Your child’s poor grades are not your teacher’s fault. The second you start looking to place blame on a teacher instead of working with him or her on solutions is the second the conference fails to be useful. The teacher should have a plan already developed to help with either situation. They won’t blame you (to your face), so don’t blame them (to their face).
Know what your child is learning and expected to do: Know your child’s schedule and the objectives they are working on. This allows you to go home and support the learning. Know the homework expectations. There is no excuse for parents not knowing what the daily homework assignments are.
Ask questions: Your child’s teacher is a trained professional. Parents are fond of telling those with no children that they just don’t understand. We’ll, until you are responsible for the education, safety, and well being of thirty kids for 180 days with no spanking rights, then YOU don’t understand. If you have a question, ask the teacher. Don’t leave a conference confused.
You are not a professional: Do not go into a conference with the attitude that you know how to best educate children. I once had a parent basically explain to me that I sucked as a teacher. He based his wealth of knowledge on the fact that he coaches eleven ten year old boys for one hour, once a week. Because I know what was best for his child in that situation, I said nothing.
Your child lies too: Children bend the truth or outright lie to improve their situation. The teacher is an adult; they have no reason to lie about your child’s behavior. Accept what your child tells you, but verify.
Understand that teachers have little to no time: I know you have little to no time too, but parents love to come in with special requests. For example, my favorite line is, “Why didn’t you call and tell me Johnny had a book report?” Because I am not your child’s secretary. If your child is not bringing graded work home, YOU need to call the teacher. If your child constantly says they have no homework, YOU need to call your child’s teacher.

Clearly, this list is from a teacher’s perspective. I feel much better that this rant is out. I guess I can go to bed now. Let’s make this fun, add your list from a parent’s perspective. Bring it on!

How Is Your Prayer Life?

Recently, my pastor asked the congregation, “How do you feel about your prayer life?” audible moans and groans filled the sanctuary. Why is it that no one ever feels that their prayer life is right where it should be?

It is because we can never be perfect. We can only strive to be more like Jesus. We have a false belief that we are somehow in control. It is when we inevitably lose control that we begin reflecting on our prayer life. The absolute need for prayer is laid out throughout scripture (click here for specifics). I believe God is pleased with our prayer life when we actively apply it to our lives and constantly reflect on its use in our life. I reflect by asking myself questions like…Am I making decisions without asking God for his wisdom? Am I thanking God for all the good in my life? Am I asking the Lord for what I need? Am I seeking God’s guidance even when I feel in control? The answer to these questions and others is almost never a yes. But I do not scold myself; rather seek Gods help in adjusting my priorities.

Don’t groan when thinking about your prayer life, or fall into the trap of comparing it to others. If you truly believe in the power of prayer and believe in the crucified and resurrected Son of God, Jesus Christ, then reflect on how you can apply these truths, as Jesus demonstrated. Remember, you are never in control and take steps to reflect on your prayer life.

Overcoming Your Feelings in the Economy

Why you need to overcome you feelings in this economy...

The American economy is not going anywhere. We are, and will remain, the world's economic leader. When the American market stumbles, the foreign markets follow. The essential understanding you need to have is that the market is going to rebound and rebound fast. Right now, poor decisions on the part of government and business have caused the banking industry to crash. Now, also as a result of government, unions, and poor business practice, the Big Three American automotive companies are in danger. These are serious issues that should instill real concern in every American. However, American's still need mortgages and still need cars. Therefore, the market will eventually stabilize. Remember the disastrous effects of September 11, 2001 on the economy? The airlines have learned to adjust and the economy reached new heights.

The question for you is...will you take of advantage of the current market economy? Warren Buffet has recently invested 100% of his wealth into the economy. Why? Because he understands the market will return and he enjoys making money. In the past months, I have lost 50% of my savings that are invested in mutual funds. This amounts to thousand of dollars! My reaction, transfer every last penny I have to spare into the mutual fund accounts. This is why... Before the economic downturn, the value per share I own was about $50. Now, the value is $21. First, I have absolutely no doubt the price per share will not only go back up to $50, but will far exceed it. Consequently, I stand to make a lot of money the more shares I purchase at the current low price. For example, if I buy 500 shares at a total cost to me of $12,500 ($25 x 500), then the value of those 500 shares will be $25,000 when the price reaches $50 and $37,500 when the price reaches $75 per share. Ric Edelman, CEO of one of the nation’s top financial advising companies, pointed out recently on his weekly radio show on 630 WMAL, that the market usually rebounds 30% very quickly once it has bottomed-out. This means I could potentially see my $37,500 in just one year.

Certainly, you should never invest money that you don’t have. But this economy has produced a once in a lifetime buying opportunity. Now is not the time to sell. If you are selling now due to fear of the economy, then you are selling low. This violates the principle of buying low and selling high. If you are waiting for the market to rebound, trouble. By the time you realize the rebound is occurring, you will be buying high. If you are unsure how to start, contact a local financial investor and get help. Don’t miss out!
